    These courses are designed to assist organisations and users achieve the most from their Mobile System. The courses encompass both the Field and Office (Desktop) components of a Mobile GIS project, as well as cover the integration between these components.

    Training Courses

    Using ArcPad Course

    This 1 day course provides a functional overview and hands on experience using ArcPad and associated hardware.

    You are introduced to the ArcPad interface and guided through some of the common issues that are encountered whilst field mapping with GIS, including hardware constraints of Windows CE and Mobile devices and hand held GPS units.

    Practice sessions are based on local Australian data.

    Using ArcPad training can be offered for ArcPad 7.x, 8.x & 10.x

    RIA Mobile GIS is an ESRI accredited trainer authorised to provide ArcPad training courses. We the developers of the ArcPad and ArcPad Application Builder courses run throughout Australia and New Zealand.

    ArcPad Application Builder Course

    ArcPad Application Builder is a 1 day course providing a functional overview of how ArcPad Studio can be used to customise ArcPad and extend its’ capabilities. In this course, you will learn how to develop customised data entry forms and how to use scripts to extend the capabilities of your ArcPad application. You will also learn how to develop customised toolbars and how to provide a login function for ArcPad users.

    The course is suited to students who have preferably both ArcPad experience and limited programming experience. However, the detailed course notes include examples and full working source code solutions to allow for a range of students and ensure that all attendees benefit greatly from the course. This course will be run on Application Builder version 7.

    Practice sessions are based on local Australian data.

    Introduction to ArcGIS Course

    This 2 day robust course provides a conceptual overview and hands-on experience using ArcGIS software. The course teaches basic ArcGIS functionality and enables participants to quickly take advantage of the software’s powerful display and analysis capabilities. Participants are introduced to the 3 desktop products comprising the ArcGIS suite and use them to create, edit, display, query, analyse geographic and tabular data, create presentation-quality maps and charts. Data sets and examples cover a wide spectrum of business cases and applications to help you apply the ArcGIS features to your workplace immediately.

    Practice sessions are based on local Australian and Tasmanian data. The data is publicly available from Geosciences Australia or has been made available by the Tasmanian Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment (DPIPWE). This provides participants with a unique opportunity to obtain training using local data and coordinate systems.

    Introduction to ArcGIS training can be offered for ArcGIS 9.3.1

    Using GeoDatabases Course

    Data captured out in the field is ususally managed, stored and integrated with the Desktop or Server system in the office.

    This 1 day course provides a conceptual overview and hands-on experience using the ArcGIS GeoDatabase format. The course teaches the basics of GeoDatabases and enables participants to quickly take advantage of the capabilities of this format. Participants are introduced to both Personal (MDB) and File (GDB) GeoDatabases and use them to store, manage, edit, query and analyse both vector and raster data. The practice sessions and examples cover a range of business cases to put the features of the GeoDatabase into the context.

    Practice sessions are based on local Australian data. The data is publicly available from Geosciences Australia.
